6) Brown Sugar Strawberry Frosted Cake

If you're impatiently waiting for berry season to start near you, make this cake. The frosting is colored (and flavored) with freeze-dried berries instead of fresh and is a beautiful compliment to the tender brown sugar cake. Reverse creaming (aka beating softened butter into all of the dry ingredients, instead of just the sugar) ensures a soft and tender crumb throughout the cake.

The charred pizza dough is topped with fresh tomato sauce seasoned with chiles de arbol and Oaxaca cheese (or a melty cheese of choice).
