We’ve got exciting news: King Arthur is coming to Greenville, South Carolina this holiday season. We’re launching a pop-up holiday store in the West End from November 2 to December 22, where we’ll have a wide range of baking essentials, including ingredients, baking mixes, utensils, kitchen appliances, gifts, and much more.
But that's not the only place you'll find us — we’re launching initiatives throughout the local area, ranging from Bake for Good programs in schools to visits from our roving Cookie Truck at stores, tailgates, and beyond.
We’re thrilled to become part of the thriving local baking scene here. To keep up with all the fun stuff and enjoy a baking-filled holiday season, here’s our baker’s tour of Greenville:
Visit the King Arthur holiday pop-up store
Until now, the only way to experience King Arthur in person was to travel to our headquarters in Norwich, Vermont. But for the first time, we’re offering a retail experience outside of Vermont with our holiday pop-up in Greenville. From November 2 to December 22, you can stop by to find your favorite tools, discover new ingredients and baking mixes, and pick up the perfect gift for bakers in your life. Want to make your best pizza yet? We’ve got everything you need. Do you have a loved one who’s a bread baker? Come discover must-have tools and favorite ingredients for their perfect loaf.
And exclusive to our Greenville location, we’ll have art from local artists Lacey Hennessey, Briana Danyele, Melissa Anderson, and Elizabeth Kinney. There will even be tote bags featuring some of their work, so you can embrace your inner baker all year long.
Come enjoy fresh cookies at the King Arthur Cookie Truck
Our Cookie Truck will be popping up across the region, offering fresh-baked Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies and a warm smile. Check out our Greenville page for more details, and also keep an eye out for the Cookie Truck popping up at Greenville area Harris Teeter, Ingles, Whole Foods, and Lowes Foods stores.
Listen in on a live talk with King Arthur bakers
On November 29, M. Judson Booksellers will be hosting a live discussion with two King Arthur bakers and authors: Rossi Anastopoulo (ahem, me!) and Martin Philip. We’ll be sharing our top tips for holiday bakes, insights on writing, and answering all your baking questions with M. Judson’s chef Teryi Youngblood, who leads the in-store café Camilla Kitchen. The word on the street is that there will be cocktails and a baking demo, too. So come say hi!

Try delicious baked goods at some of the best local bakeries
Of course, this guide wouldn’t be complete without some local bakery recommendations. Some of our favorite local bakeries are below, and we can’t wait to discover more:
Swamp Rabbit Café: From fluffy scones to classic croissants to giant cinnamon buns, you can find just about any baked good you’re craving at this delightful café and grocery.
Rise Bakery: Born from a COVID pastime, Rise is a bakery that specializes in naturally leavened breads and laminated pastries, all available in a charming space in West Greenville or at various farmers markets.
Bake Room: Tucked into the Commons, Bake Room is a pleasant place to pick up artisan bread, breakfast pastries, or a cookie to snack on, then enjoy outside by the Swamp Rabbit Trail or Unity Park.
Le Petit Croissant: If you’re visiting our pop-up in the West End, make sure to stop next door for a French pastry at Le Petit Croissant. The colorful, eye-catching macarons are particularly swoon-worthy.
Get your hands in some flour at a baking class
While our Baking School won’t be making the trip down south (though you can always take a virtual course!), you can sign up for an in-person baking class at one of these excellent venues across Greenville:
The Cook’s Station: This culinary hub offers a wide range of classes, many of which focus on baking. There are classes on cookie decorating, sourdough baking, focaccia making, and much more.
The Truist Culinary & Hospitality Innovation Center (CHI): Step into CHI’s Training Kitchen for either a hands-on course or a demo and tasting, depending on how you’d like to participate. You can take courses on cake decorating, bread making, and even a class all about pizza.
Le Petit Croissant: This adorable bakeshop also hosts monthly workshops on topics like croissants, bread, macarons, or pizza. BYOB is also an option!
M. Judson: In addition to book-themed events, M. Judson also offers occasional hands-on classes, like October’s “The Great Greenville Baking Class.” Keep an eye on their events calendar for more upcoming classes.
