Grain-Free Fudge Brownies

Tall, dark, and delicious, these rich-tasting brownies can be made with natural cocoa for a tangy, slightly floral flavor or Dutch-process cocoa for a deep, dark taste. Don’t forget the chips for even more fun (and chocolate)!

Grain-Free Fudge Brownies


Prevent your screen from going dark as you follow along.
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease an 8" square pan or 9" round pan; either should be at least 2" deep.

  2. In a medium bowl, stir together the butter, sugar, salt, vanilla, cocoa, eggs, and water. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and chips.

  3. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and level the top.

  4. Bake for 33 to 38 minutes, until the top is set. A cake tester inserted in the center should come out mostly clean, with a few wet crumbs clinging to it. Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 15 minutes before cutting.

  5. Once the brownies are cool, cover them airtight. Store at room temperature for several days; freeze for longer storage.
