Hot Party Sandwiches

Expecting company? Bake off a batch of our Big Batch Quick Dinner Rolls. Working with one pan at a time, cut the whole slab of rolls in half without separating them, making tops and bottoms. Load the bottom half with your favorite sandwich fillings, add the top half, and warm the rolls through for easy, pull-apart, slider-sized sandwiches that are sure to please any crowd. We provide three of our favorite filling options below; each makes enough for a 9" round (or similar size) pan of rolls. But the possibilities are endless; use your imagination!

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  2. To make the cheeseburger sandwiches: Heat the oil in a large sauté pan set over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking up the meat, until it's evenly browned and no longer pink. Add the garlic, salt, pepper, and any other seasonings you like. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes longer then remove from the heat.

  3. Cut the rolls from one pan in half horizontally. Place the bottom halves of the rolls back in the pan they were baked in or a comparably-sized pan.

  4. Spread half your chosen condiments on the bottom halves, then top with the hot beef mixture and an even layer of cheese. Spread the remaining condiments onto the cut side of the top halves of the rolls and sandwich them over the layers of cheeseburger filling.

  5. To make the pizza sandwiches: Cut the rolls from one pan in half horizontally. Place the bottom halves of the rolls back in the pan they were baked in or a comparably-sized pan.

  6. Spread the tomato sauce on the bottom halves, top with the cheese and pepperoni, and sandwich with the top halves of the rolls.

  7. To make the cheesy pesto sandwiches: Cut the rolls from one pan in half horizontally. Place the bottom halves of the rolls back in the pan they were baked in or a comparably-sized pan.

  8. Spread the pesto on the bottom halves, top with the cheese, and sandwich with the top halves of the rolls.

  9. Cover the sandwiches with foil, and place them in the oven. Bake the sandwiches for 15 to 20 minutes, until the cheese has melted. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 to 10 minutes, until they're crusty and browned.

  10. Remove the sandwiches from the oven, allow to cool for 5 to 10 minutes, then serve immediately.

  11. Leftover sandwiches may be wrapped in plastic and refrigerated for 1 or 2 days. Reheat, covered with foil, in a warm (250°F) oven.
