About Louisa Shafia

Contributor

Louisa Shafia is a chef, writer, and entrepreneur who is on a mission to bring the flavors of Persian food to everyone. Her recipe for Dried Lime Pound Cake with Saffron Glaze combines her Iranian heritage with her love of classic American desserts.

Louisa is the author of the award-winning cookbook The New Persian Kitchen, as well as Lucid Food: Cooking For an Eco-Conscious Life. She has given cooking classes and talks at Harvard, Google, and New York’s Museum of Food and Drink, and her recipes have been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, Food & Wine, and on National Public Radio.

Louisa is proud to have lived and cooked all over the country, from her hometown of Philadelphia to St. Paul to San Francisco, and East Willamsburg (Brooklyn) to East Nashville. Currently a resident of Tennessee, she loves being close to the biggest ex-pat Kurdish population in the US and having access to ingredients from throughout the Middle East and the southeast. Feast by Louisa is her online store where she sells Persian-inspired culinary goods like Cardamom Coffee, Persian Spiced Chocolate Bars, and a Saffron Ice Cream Kit.
