Ray, thanks for sharing that with us! Ultimately, we all share advice based on our own knowledge and experience. The best way to know for sure would be to experiment with both butter and shortening in your pan, and note for yourself which you prefer. Of course, this means you'll have to bake more cakes, but it's for science, which is always a good cause! Happy baking!
