I use whatever bread is on hand. If I'm feeling plucky I will butter and grill both sides of the bread for maximum toasty goodness. We use Cabot extra sharp cheddar and it works very well. My husband's favorite bit is the cheese that spills out and gets fried in the pan. I always cut my sandwich into cubes and put it in tomato soup. They are the ultimate croutons! The KAF tomato soup recipe is killer, and I recommend it to everyone! Tomato soup and a grilled cheese is the ultimate easy meal combo in my house.
