Thanks for your interest in giving these sweet and salty delights a try, Candy. Rum extract or flavoring is going to taste more like rum than the suggested options, so if you decide to give it a try, we'd try starting with a smaller amount - say 1/4 tsp - to keep the rum flavor from overrunning the sweet, nutty, buttery notes.
